We'd promised Kibby a visit to the beach, so after Honey created a great breakfast in our galley, we all put some clothes on over our swimsuits and headed over the bridge to SunSplash Park.
The park has a nice public parking area, a sandy playground with slides and pull-up bars, a play fountain that kids could stand in or run through, and some covered picnic tables. There was a ramp and a staircase, giving direct access to the beach.
I remembered Daytona from my youth, as having the nicest beaches I'd ever seen. It's good to know that, even after over 40 years, that's still true. Honey kept pointing out girls in bikinis for me to ogle, but they were all too young to elicit any real interest.
Kibby spent much of the time riding the wavelets into the beach on a body-board, while Honey contented herself with watching and walking in the surf. I did that too, until the heat and the walking began to take their toll on my old bones, then I found a shady spot to rest.
Afterwards, we got some ice cream, then returned to Event Horizon for lunch and a short visit with my daughter and her husband. Both Kibby and her Mom seem to be suffering acute separation anxiety... cell phones were made for catering to their issues!

We spent the afternoon (unsuccessfully) trying to avoid the heat, by doing a lot of shopping that we'd been putting off. We found that we were actually more comfortable sitting under a fan after we returned to the boat, than we had been moving in and out of air-conditioned stores. The brief respite from the heat, provided by the stores, did little to offset the discomfort of climbing into and out of a superheated Honda CRV!
We'd already had two large meals today, and no one was really interested in another. Supper was cereal and milk, followed, as usual on the boat, by an early bedtime.
