Recommissioning - The Beginning

This morning we visited the Daytona Marina and Boat Works repair yard, by automobile. Aquamarina Daytona theoretically owns the facility, but it is apparently managed separately, by RRC Marine Services of Daytona, LLC.

We had earlier requested recommendations for repair facilities, from both our surveyor and our broker, but neither had any to offer immediately. On consulting with (separate) third parties, however, both returned postive recommendations for Mr. Ruben Caceres, one of the owners of RRC.

We had spoken to Mr, Caceres a week or so ago, and he indicated that there was little going on at that moment which would compete with our needed repairs, so we could expect fairly rapid turnaround.  When we arrived, however, it was apparent that there had been a sudden and serious upturn in the repair business.  We were concerned that our little job might not get the priority we had expected however, Mr. Caceres quickly put our concerns to rest.

We brought our boat to the assigned dock under auxilliary engine power this afternoon. It was a little too late to have it hauled today, with so much other activity going on, so we'll be spending the night at the dock.
