More Odds and Ends

As might be expected, we had an early bedtime last night. This morning came early, however, as I awoke at 4:30 AM. I fought to try to continue sleeping, for about an hour, but it was futile.

I got up and made coffee for the first time since Saturday. I've concluded that we need one of the old-style Melita coffee makers. The ones that aren't automatic. We can heat water in a teapot, and pour it through the filter basket for excellent fresh coffee. Yeah, it takes a little more effort, but what else are you going to do when it's too dark to see outside?

We're leaving the boat for the next few days, in order to take care of some business at home. Before we do that Honey wants to empty the reefer, so she made another terrific weekend-style breakfast. If I don't watch myself, or I'm going to get even fatter than I already am. For the moment however, I'll just have to make the sacrifice.

We completed the shock treatment process that we started yesterday on the potable water system. That just means that we emptied the tank and lines of the highly-chlorinated water, and flushed clean water through them.

After that we refilled the tank and treated the water with the normal amount of chlorine. We'll leave it that way, while we're away, and hopefully it'll still be nice and fresh when we return. If not, we'll shock it again.

I finally got the old lettering removed from the port and starboard bows. You can still read the old name, though, because of the glue residue, and the difference in UV damage between the covered and uncovered surfaces. I'm going to have to remove the old glue, somehow, and then buff out the old name, before I can apply new lettering.

One of our dock neighbors, passing by, asked what the new name was going to be. He couldn't see our transom, since we were nose-in to the dock. I told him Event Horizon, and he allowed that that was a much better name than Gusto. I agreed, naturally.

We spent the rest of the day mostly packing for the trip home.
