Around 10:45 PM last night, Honey woke me from deep slumber to tell me that Kibby was having problems. Reviewing the last few days, it is clear that Kibby was having a less-than-satisfactory boating experience.
She was still suffering from the after-effects of an illness which made her prone to break out in a rash, whenever she got too much sun or suffered too much heat. The temperatures around Daytona have been running in the high 70's and low 80's during the day, and haven't been going below 70 at night, so it's likely she was suffering a bit of discomfort from that.
She also didn't get to go to the beach as often as she wanted, mainly because we were trying to limit her sun exposure. Combine all that with the fact that, on the boat, we don't have many of the amenities of shoreside living, and a picture of disappointment begins to develop.
Finally, although, Kibby spent a good deal of time with Honey and me as an infant, by the time she had her first birthday, they lived over two hundred miles away. Since then, she's only spent brief periods with us, without having her Mom nearby, and darn few of them!
All of this adds up to a case of acute "I wanna go home!", so before midnight last night, we were on our way to Jacksonville to meet my daughter and her husband. We agreed on a meeting point en route, and passed off the child at about 2:30 AM today.
Needless to say, Honey and I are beat. We may not get much done today.
