Starting the Journey

Before there can be a journey on the SV Event Horizon, there has to be a boat named Event Horizon!  There isn't one yet - at least with US Coast Guard documentation.  For what is the umpteenth time since my retirement last October, our plans for getting underway in the cruising lifestyle have had to be changed.

We thought we'd be going to the Strictly Sail sailboat show in St. Petersburg, FL, which is already underway as I write, and that while in that vicinity, we'd have a look at several cruising sailboats we found on BoatTraderOnline.  It was not to be, however, because once again I fell prey to either an allergy or a cold.  I can't tell which, but either way, I don't feel like travelling.  It'll go away someday soon, though, and we'll actually start looking at boats.

There's a 1977 Downeaster 38 over in Hilton Head that looks good.  Maybe we'll get a look at it in person.  We would really prefer a flush-deck design with an aft owner's cabin, like the Coronado 35, but they are getting ever more rare, and the Downeaster is such a pretty boat!
