More Adventures in Sailboat Hunting

I was doing my usual thing, sifting the internet for sailboat ads, looking for something that might halfway meet my needs, when I ran across another ad for the Downeast 38 ketch in Hilton Head.  Remember now, I had already sent the broker two queries, and hadn't gotten a single reply.

I was in a mood, though, so I used their form-mail to send them a message.  I told them that it was the third time I had asked for information about the boat, and asked if their idea of customer service was to ignore queries.  Based on recent history, I didn't expect a reply.

Imagine my surprise, though, when I actually did get a reply!  The interesting thing was, it didn't come from the broker shown in the advertisement - that one was World Class Yachts - instead, I got a note in my email from one Mike Dickens, of Paradise Yacht Sales, apologizing for the fact that no one answered my preivous queries.  That was nice, but the down side is, the boat is no longer for sale.  Damn.

Anyway, he told me about an upcoming ad, and I'll watch for it.  Paradise Yacht Sales is based in Fernandina, and I'm going to Jacksonville between Christmas and New Years.  Maybe he'll have something to show me.
